The ECU triggers E08 as a protective shutdown when the internal flame sensor detects a rapid drop in combustion chamber temperature while the heater is running. To prevent unburnt diesel from accumulating in the burner chamber, the ECU immediately cuts power to the fuel pump while continuing to run the fan at maximum speed to purge fumes.

- Clogged Fuel Filter or Pickup Screen: Debris, dirt, or gelled diesel restricting fuel flow through the inline filter or tank suction pipe.
- Incorrect Fuel Pump Mounting Angle: Fuel pump mounted horizontally instead of at a 15° to 45° upward angle, trapping air pockets inside the pump head.
- Combustion Air or Exhaust Restriction: Kinked, soot-clogged, or crushed air intake / exhaust pipes starving the burner of oxygen.
- Faulty Fuel Pump or Loose Wiring: Electrical resistance or worn pump solenoids leading to inconsistent fuel delivery volume.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide
1. Replace Soft Green Fuel Hose with Rigid Nylon Line:
Inspect the fuel line running from the tank to the heater. If soft green rubber tubing is installed, replace it immediately with hard, narrow-bore rigid nylon fuel tubing.
How to verify: Observe the fuel line during operation. Air bubbles moving back and forth or line walls pulsating with each pump stroke indicate vacuum loss and improper line elasticity.
2. Re-Angle the Fuel Pulse Pump:
Check the physical mounting orientation of the fuel pump under the vehicle or enclosure.
How to verify: Ensure the fuel pump is installed at a 15° to 45° upward angle (with the outlet nozzle pointing higher than the inlet). A horizontal mounting traps internal air bubbles inside the pump, resulting in severe fuel cavitation and flame-out.
3. Prime and Bleed Fuel Lines Completely:
Run the controller’s manual fuel priming mode to push all air pockets out of the fuel line.
How to verify: Watch the clear nylon line at the heater inlet nipple. Keep priming until a continuous column of diesel reaches the combustion chamber with zero visible air bubbles.
