2kW Diesel Heater
Ideal size for compact vans, small caravans, and tight spaces. Delivers cozy, efficient heat on medium-to-high settings without cooking you out of the room.
“Where Am I Going to Get the Power From?”

Before you lock in your heater style, you need to figure out where your 12V power is coming from.
Q: What happens if I just plug it straight into the mains wall socket?
If you use a standard mains adapter and the power trips or gets unplugged while the heater is running, it stops instantly.
A diesel heater needs a strict 5-to-10-minute cool-down period to flush out unburnt fuel and cool the internal combustion chamber. If the power cuts out mid-cycle, trapped heat can damage internal components or build up heavy soot.
Q: Can I just use an old car starter battery I have lying around?
Car batteries are built for quick, heavy bursts of engine-cranking power—not for being deep-cycled night after night. They will drop voltage quickly under load and give up the ghost after a few weeks.
Q: So what’s the best setup for a shed, garage, or van?
A Dedicated 12V LiFePO4 Battery, they cost more upfront than lead-acid, but a lithium iron battery holds a steady 12.8V, gives you days of run-time without a recharge, and will last for years. Even if your main grid power fails, your battery ensures the heater always finishes its safe shutdown cycle.
A Regulated Mains Power Supply (Transformer) If you are permanently set up in a garage with steady wall power and don’t want a battery, you can run a solid 12V power transformer (just make sure it can handle the initial glow plug startup amps).
If you plug a 230V mains adapter directly into a garage wall socket and the power trips while the heater is running, the fan cuts out instantly. Heat builds up rapidly inside the plastic housing, which can melt internal components or cause carbon buildup.
The Battery Solution: Running your heater off a dedicated 12V battery ensures that even if mains power drops, your heater always finishes its safe shutdown cycle.
Remember: any standalone 12V battery will eventually need recharging. Whether you’re topping it up with a mains smart charger at home, hooking up a solar panel, or running a DC-to-DC charger off your vehicle engine while driving—you’ll need a charging plan.
Option 3: All-in-One Portable Power Stations (e.g., Jackery, EcoFlow, Bluetti)
“If you want a plug-and-play solution without touching any permanent 12V wiring, portable power stations work great. Most have built-in 12V cigarette lighter sockets to run the heater, plus built-in chargers you can plug straight into a wall socket or solar panel.”
Now that you know your space size and power requirements, the final decision is where the unit sits:
All-in-One Box Heaters: Fuel tank, pump, and heater body housed in a single portable casing. Ideal for sheds, garages, and non-permanent setups.
Standalone / Split Units: Separate fuel tank, pump, and heater body. Ideal for permanent van conversions, campervans, and motorhomes where space is at a premium.
Need a Hand with Your Setup or Installation?
Installing a heater is straightforward once you know the basics, but it’s always good to have a sounding board when you’re running wires or fitting fuel lines.
