Chinese Diesel Heater Not Igniting? How to Fix White Smoke & E-Codes
If your 12V diesel heater is blowing white smoke, clicking then shutting down, or locked out on an E10 error code, don’t throw parts at it yet. Most ignition failures come down to low battery voltage under glow load, air in the clear fuel line, or a dirty glow plug screen.
Why is my diesel heater blowing white smoke and unburnt fuel?

White smoke is unburnt diesel vaporizing on a cool glow plug screen. If your battery voltage drops below 10.5V when the glow plug kicks in, the chamber won’t reach ignition temperature—flooding the heater and triggering an E01 or E03 code.
What to do when the fuel pump stops clicking and shuts off
If the fuel pump ticks a few times and cuts out, check your clear fuel line for tiny air bubbles near the inlet. Air locks cause flame failure, throwing an E04 pump fault or E08 flame-out error.
| What it’s doing | What’s causing it | Go to fix |
|---|---|---|
| White smoke & raw diesel smell | Battery voltage dropping under load (voltage drop), or flooded chamber triggering ignition failure. | |
| Starts ticking, stops, then dies | The fuel pump lost its prime, or an air lock in the clear line caused repeated start failures. | |
| Noisy fan or overheating | The fan blade is rubbing the housing, or hot air ducting is crushed. |
